Local State and Federal Representatives Stop By Central Texas Events
Trey Wharton, Texas Representative for House District 12, and Congressman Pete Sessions of District 17, both have been making the rounds of their districts. They have both been showing up for local events and holding Town Hall meetings to keep the voters informed.
Representative Trey Wharton recently opened his district offices in Huntsville, with a ribbon cutting held on July 1. Constituents can contact the office by phone at (936) 649-0510, or visit in person at 2503 Lake Road, Suite A-100, Huntsville, TX 77340. Later this year, Representative Wharton will also launch mobile district office hours to serve residents across all counties in House District 12, ensuring more convenient access to services and support. Wharton stopped by Bremond for Polski Dzien and enjoyed the day of pickles, parades and meeting new people.
Congressman Pete Sessions, recently faced tough questions from constituents in Robinson, Texas in June, but has not shied away from the national spotlight, or his voters. Sessions recently took a tour of GATX facilities across his District, including the Hearne facility that wants to expand and upgrade in the coming years. His membership on key congressional committees could help ensure funding for important infrastructure improvements, such as those planned at GATX, that could bring jobs to the region as well as provide a smoother supply chain for the entire country. Sessions was also present at the recent Polski Dzien and enjoyed the pickles and brats while meeting the many voters in Robertson County.
Both the state and local representatives have been busy this legislative session, as well. Wharton, in his freshman session, has already authored a bill that has been signed by the Governor and will go into effect this September. Working with law enforcement and local organizations, Wharton’s bill created a grant program for local law enforcement departments to upgrade their squad cars with bullet-proof glass. Operation Safe Shield, who has worked with Robertson County officers, spearheaded this cause, and they are very pleased with the passage of this important bill. Another bill that designates a portion of State Highway 6 in Brazos County as the Sergeant Mark Butler Memorial Highway, the officer in Navasota who tragically lost his life in the line of duty, was authored by Wharton and passed during the most recent session.
A healthy Robertson County requires great community news.
