Lone Oak Fires Up The Pit
The Lone Oak Bar, nestled in the quiet corner of Hanna and Cedar in Calvert, has a great big yard that's just perfect for outdoor gatherings. The owner and management team have been putting together some great events for some summer fun, and they're excited to invite the community out to enjoy their second annual BBQ Cook-off.
Teams or individuals can compete in a variety of meat and sides. There's brisket, chicken and ribs on the meats and the entry cost is a mere $50.00. Beans and Wild Card entries are only $15.00 and there's plenty of room for competition in the sides. From potato salad, to your auntie's ambrosia recipe, the right wild card can wow the judges.
Competitors should contact the Lone Oak as soon as possible, as there are very few spots left and the competition is supposed to be fierce this year.
Brian Rekeita will be spinning the tunes while the crew makes sure the beers are flowing as the delicious smells waft over the Lone Oak Lawn. Tammy Hardin invites everyone to bring their lawn chairs and get the best seats in the house to watch the action.
The Lone Oak is also excited to announce the first ever Robertson County Poker Run. Nine locations throughout Robertson County will be participating. The key is to visit from five to nine of them to obtain a playing card from each. When you've collected a poker hand, you return to the Lone Oak to see if you have the best or worst hand. Best and worst hands will divide a portion of the pot, and the rest will go to help the Calvert Volunteer Fire Department and the Calvert Animal Control Holding Facility. Registration is only $75.00 and the fun goes to help two great causes.
